Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 July 2026
Ick Log is a private journal for noticing patterns in your relationships. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the control you have over it.
Ick Log is operated by Right Tail Corp. This policy applies to the Ick Log mobile app. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
What we collect
We only collect what the app needs to work. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or device advertising identifiers, and Ick Log contains no advertising.
| Data | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Email & password | To create and secure your account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier instead of a password. |
| Journal entries | The notes you write — the text, and the mood, category, and intensity you tag them with. This is the core of the app. |
| People you add | The nicknames and details you record about people in your journal. We ask for nicknames, not real names. |
| Voice sessions | If you use the voice feature, we store a text transcript and a short summary of the session. See "Voice sessions" below. |
| Usage & subscription | Your subscription tier and, for the voice feature, the number of minutes used, so we can apply your plan's limits. |
Voice sessions
The voice feature lets you talk through a reflection out loud. When you use it:
- Your microphone audio is streamed live to OpenAI to power the conversation. We do not store the audio recording.
- We do store a text transcript and a short summary of the session in your account, so you can look back at it.
- Short pieces of the conversation are sent to OpenAI's moderation service to help the app recognise when you might be in distress and show you support resources.
How we use AI
Ick Log's pattern insights and voice feature are powered by OpenAI. To generate these, the relevant journal text and people details are sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI processes this content to return a result to the app and, under their terms for this kind of API use, does not use it to train their models.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make the app function:
| Provider | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Secure database and account authentication — where your account and journal are stored. |
| OpenAI | Powers the voice conversation, pattern insights, and safety moderation. |
| RevenueCat | Manages subscriptions and purchases. |
| Google / Apple | Process subscription payments and, if you choose it, Google sign-in. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a person where we believe there is a serious risk of harm.
How your data is protected
Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Your journal is private to your account: it is not shared with other users, and the app has no social or public feed. You can also lock the app behind your device's Face ID or fingerprint.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Settings → Delete account), or by request. This removes your journal entries, the people you added, voice transcripts, insights, and your profile. Details and a request option are on our account deletion page.
- Erase your journal. Settings also lets you erase your entries and people while keeping your account.
- Access or correct your data. Contact us and we'll help.
- Cancel your subscription. Manage or cancel any subscription through your Google Play or App Store account. Deleting your Ick Log account does not automatically cancel billing.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, the associated data is removed from our systems. Backups held by our service providers are cycled out in the normal course of their operations.
International users
Ick Log is available internationally, and your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including by the service providers listed above. Wherever it is processed, we apply the practices described in this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
Not a crisis service. Ick Log is a reflection tool, not a licensed therapist or emergency service. If you are in crisis, please reach out to a trusted person or a local helpline. The app shows support resources for your region when it detects you may need them.
